Vehicle crime prevention

Monday 14th July 2025

Dear resident,

There has been a recent car theft in the Shirley area whereby the steering wheel lock was damaged and removed from the car, prior to it being stolen. Please remember to research security products before purchasing, and that cheaper does not necessarily mean that the product will be the most secure.

Car alarms, ghost immobilisers and ghost trackers are also worth investing in. Good quality CCTV equipment covering your driveway is also a deterrent and can give officers valuable footage to assist with apprehending thieves. Also make sure that prior to walking away from your parked vehicle, that it is locked by physically checking.

Please visit our website at https://www.westmidlands.police.uk/cp/crime-prevention/keeping-vehicles-safe/preventing-car-vehicle-theft/ for further tips on preventing vehicle thefts.

Officers from your local neighbourhood Policing Team conduct high visibility patrols to prevent further offences and to try to catch offenders. Officers are also hard at work investigating these offences.

If you have any information that could assist officers please call our non-emergency number on 101.

Alternatively you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.

Thank you for your continued support

Kind regards

PCSO Dan Talbot 31111
